A ‘spooktacular’ Halloween singalong at Nonsuch Abbeyfield

Last Saturday, our wonderful musical volunteers brought a ‘spooktacular’ Halloween singalong to Nonsuch Abbeyfield!

The room was decorated with spooky flair, and everyone – volunteers, residents, and guests from our supported living housing – entered into the spirit by dressing up and joining in the fun.

The session began with lively vocal and chair exercises to get everyone moving and singing, followed by a selection of Halloween-themed songs that had us all delightfully spooked! Special thanks to Carole for providing delicious cakes that added a sweet touch to the afternoon.

It was a fantastic event that brought smiles, laughter, and joy to everyone involved. A huge thank you to our volunteers, Nigel, Linden, Linda, Carole, Vanessa, and Dickie for their dedication and creativity!

Thank you to all who participated.

What Singalong Saturday means to one of our residents…

“I should very much like to take this opportunity to say what tremendous enjoyment I get from the Singalong every Saturday morning and to tell you how it always fills me with a great feeling of bonhomie and happiness.

I live at the Abbeyfield in York Road, Cheam and feel extremely lucky and indeed honoured to be able to join in such a joyful gathering.  It doesn’t matter that I can’t sing because we are well supported  by our wonderful musicians Nigel, Carol and Dickie) and the excellent singing voice and dancing feet of Linden.  Vanessa and Linda have very kindly  typed up all the songs from the years that we remember so well, so we all sing along with gusto.

What an amazing activity this is.  We all know the joy that singing (or having a go at singing) can bring.  I am always happy when I set off for Nonsuch Abbeyfield at 10.30 every Saturday morning, knowing for certain that when I leave there at 12.30 my heart will be filled with joy and singing as I walk round Bourne Hall Park, longing for the next Saturday morning.”
