We had our cake and ate it… all in a good cause!
On Tuesday 15th October, we held a MacMillan Coffee Morning here at Nonsuch Abbeyfield to raise funds for this amazing charity during it’s annual fundraising week.
The money raised from our MacMillan Coffee Morning, along with thousands of others, help raise vital funds to support the 3 million people in the UK living with cancer, from the moment they are diagnosed, throughout treatment and beyond. It’s such a worthwhile charity.
The event was extremely well supported by the Nonsuch Abbeyfield residents with over 30 in attendance.
They were treated to a variety of freshly-baked cakes served with ‘bottomless’ coffee and tea. A delicious-looking carrot cake, baked and donated by resident Dickie Leng, was auctioned off by Jo Taylor, ASO’s Community manager.
Jo also auctioned off newly planted aloe vera and cactus plants, grown and kindly donated by Pat Darth, another of the Nonsuch Abbeyfield residents.
An all-round success and a most enjoyable event. We were able to raise £228 on the day.
Thank you to all who participated.
“We were absolutely delighted to see our residents get so involved in this year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning. From baking cakes, with one even being auctioned, to planting beautiful plants for sale and contributing other lovely gifts, their participation truly made the event special.”
